Once Upon a World: Scandinavia
CURRICULUM OVERVIEW
Once Upon a World Scandinavia is a gentle, story-rich geography and literature curriculum designed for elementary-aged students.
Through enchanting fairy tales and folktales from Denmark, Norway, and Sweden, children will discover the people, places, and traditions of Scandinavia while developing the Charlotte Mason habit of narration and keeping a narration notebook.
Each lesson is intentionally short and engaging, making it a wonderful addition to Morning Time, a geography study, or a literature lesson. Three of the four main texts are found in the public domain, for easier accessibility and affordability!
Over the course of 36 lessons, students will journey through Scandinavia, listen to beautiful stories, narrate into their own narration notebooks, practice map-making skills, learn cardinal directions, and become familiar with the geography of Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. Gentle art and music connections help bring each country to life and provide opportunities for rich cultural learning.
